Aussie men's mag draws fire for offering prize breast implants

Sydney (dpa) - An Australian men's magazine was censured by women's groups Monday for running a competition in which readers can win breast implants for a girlfriend.

Entrants are encouraged to send in photos of the chosen woman's less-than-ample cleavage and readers are to vote on who is most deserving of the surgery.

"It's impossible to think of a more romantic gift than new breasts," Zoo magazine editor Paul Merrill said. "It's the gift that keeps on giving."

Sydney University public health researcher Jenny O'Dea said she was "disgusted and appalled" and urged Merrill to think again.

"You simply cannot treat women in this way, like objects there for men's satisfaction," she told AAP news agency.
